Super simple productivity recipe

Through the years spent at the university, developing some projects in my spare time, and working as a regular employee I found a method that quickly boosts my productivity. It often helps me to kick-off my day at work and I believe it has the potential to make other people’s lives better as well.

I describe productivity as a special state of the body and the mind that enables us to create a value through the work. No matter what kind of labor is involved in the process, I think there is always a common pattern shared among various professionals. It is super simple and consists of just 3 steps.

Desire

Although it sounds obvious, this factor contributes to our productivity equally to both others. Unless we are intentionally putting our time, effort, and energy into some project, the probability of succeeding is quite low. It is absolutely crucial for productivity to desire to do the activity it involves.

Focusing on the right thing

Once we are sure we want, we have to face it.
Contrary to many fancy distractors that are begging for our attention, choosing to stay focused on just one relatively unattractive thing may be a challenge. One of the reasons being it a challenge is the amount of energy used to move our attention to the object and keep fooling ourselves that distractors do not exist.

Thinking

Without a desire or being affected by various distractions make it impossible to take the full advantage of the most powerful feature of the brain. An essential skill that enables us to solve math problems, write essays, develop and maintain our relationships, and sometimes even fill the tax return correctly. This is the third fundamental ingredient that contributes to productivity which is immediately reflected in the results of our work and of course … the hardest to manage.

Summary

The short list briefly depicts a simple, yet effective method of boosting the productivity. To sum things up, any project could not be developed without thinking accompanied by the focus and a solid portion of desire.

Establishing the goals, putting away distractors, and starting to think on actual problems have become my primary tool to fight for better productivity every day.
